UM Flint art students chose to put on a art exhibition centered around the idea of circles. According to UM Flint, a "circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, the self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, and all-circle movement." What does a circle mean to you?
For this exhibition I created interactive elements that were featured along side the artwork. On top of that, I led the space planning group. We were in charge of layout, display, and artwork placement. Art exhibitions aren't traditionally very more visitor centric, so I chose to focus on ways I could change that. A voting station is a quick and easy way to make visitors feel engaged, a checkerboard provided entertainment for children or long-staying visitors, and an interactive art piece where visitors are encouraged to reflect on their experience allowed them to participate in making the exhibition as "artists" themselves.
This is the primary flyer for the exhibition. My interactives were primarily black and white, but where color was appropriate I tried to echo this color pallet. This is the directory for the exhibition.
The artwork my classmates brought in was beautiful. While arranging it on the walls, we considered artwork dimension, shape, color pallet and display requirements. In addition to my interactives, the artworks' media included: animation, acrylic paint, digital artwork printed, multimedia, oil paint, and photography.
